A couple of Cubans dies in Texas in an alleged homicide-suicide case

The incident occurred in Harris County.

Authorities in Harris County, Texas, are investigating an apparent case of murder-suicide following the discovery of the bodies of a Cuban couple in an apartment in the Katy area, west of Houston.

The bodies were discovered on Saturday afternoon when relatives of the deceased requested a welfare check, as they had not heard from them since Friday night.

The grim discovery occurred in a residential complex located at 19770 Clay Road, near Fry Road.

According to the report from the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the call around 4:00 p.m. on November 9th.

Upon arriving at the apartment, they found the lifeless bodies of a 48-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, both identified as Cuban citizens and ex-spouses who had been married for nine years but were living separately at the time of the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the tragic incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Evidence indicated that the man had shot the woman before taking his own life.

That hypothesis is based on the weapon's location and other preliminary details from the scene, as confirmed by the authorities.

Harris County Sheriff Ed González issued a statement noting that, while many details of the incident remain unknown, the investigation is ongoing and additional evidence is being gathered to clarify the final moments of the couple.

González reported on the case via his social media and assured that the detectives are committed to gathering all possible information to understand the factors that led to this tragic outcome.

The agents reported that both individuals had a history of tensions and personal conflicts. Authorities emphasized that these factors, along with the recent separation, could have been triggers for the tragedy.

This investigation is ongoing, and the authorities have not disclosed further details until the forensic analyses and reconstruction of the events are completed.

Although the authorities did not disclose the identities of the deceased, crime reporter Niover Licea, from his social media channel "Nio reporting a crime," revealed that the victims were Delmis Marrero and Aida Esther Samón Castillo.

Licea mentioned that, according to information shared with him, the man was very jealous and had allegedly said that if Aida left him, he would kill her, as he had brought her from Cuba to the United States.

"They had been separated for some time, and although they seemed to be trying to reconcile, things were not going well. In some way, Delmis convinced her to come to his apartment, and then he murdered her," Licea commented.

The YouTuber also noted that the woman’s family had already considered the relationship to be toxic due to frequent arguments. They were the ones who contacted the condominium to request that the door be opened, as they had been unable to reach their relative since the previous day, although they knew she had gone to Delmis's house.

Allegedly, the attacker left a note after committing the crime.

As of the close of this report, there are no other confirmed details regarding the tragic incident.
