A touching act of solidarity took place in Havana this Tuesday when the driver of a route 23 bus decided to take a child in a medical emergency directly to the hospital, without stopping at the usual stops.
The incident occurred aboard bus number 5229, where a one-year-old child began to convulse, causing concern among the passengers, reported Transportación Habana TH on Facebook.
The mother of the minor, who was traveling with him due to his hematological and renal conditions, was on her way back to Lawton when the child began to show signs of seizures.
In response to the situation, the passengers reacted by calling for help, searching for a doctor or anyone who could assist.
Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the driver decided to speed up the bus without stopping at any stops, heading straight to Hijas de Galicia Hospital, where the child could receive the necessary medical attention.
This act, although unexpected for the passengers, was supported by everyone on board, who recognized the importance of prioritizing the child's health.
The driver expressed concern that some users at the stops might misinterpret his decision not to stop, but both he and the passengers who experienced the emergency believe that the action was the right one.
On other occasions, bus drivers have shown solidarity in cases of medical emergencies.
A public transport driver in Havana who assisted an elderly woman during his route received thanks for his noble act last September.
The incident took place in the morning, and the driver of bus 707 on route P1 in the Cuban capital "helped an elderly woman at the 'La Benéfica' hospital, from Cuatro Caminos," wrote the internet user Eliosmy Hernández in the Facebook group "Real-Time Route Report."
Also in September, another public transport driver in Havana demonstrated an act of humanity and solidarity with a passenger who fainted during the journey.
A bus from the P9 route was following its usual path along Calzada de Diez de Octubre when a girl fainted in the crowded aisle.
The driver and his assistant decided to take her to the nearest health center and transferred her to the National Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery.
