The government of Havana reported that, following the departure of Hurricane Milton and the gradual return to normalcy, transportation services in Havana Bay have been restored using the Regla ferry.
According to the official statement posted on Facebook by the profile Transportación Habana TH, the service will be operational again starting at 9:00 AM on October 10, 2024.
Last Tuesday, in light of the effects of Hurricane Milton, the Havana government suspended boat transportation services in the Bay, announcing that they would resume as soon as conditions allowed.
As predicted, Hurricane Milton affected the western region of Cuba, causing significant sea surges in Havana, which resulted in flooding in areas like El Vedado.
At dawn this Thursday, much of El Vedado woke up without power due to the heavy rains, but primarily because of seawater intrusions.
In addition to Havana, the powerful cyclone also created adverse conditions across the rest of western Cuba, primarily strong wind gusts, heavy swells, and intermittent showers associated with the feeder bands.
Hurricane Milton, now a Category 1 storm, is currently moving away from the east coast of Florida, but it is still causing damaging winds and heavy rainfall in the central and eastern parts of the state.
