A Cuban tenant has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a video on her profile @echusita_ in which she exposes the terrible conditions in which previous tenants returned her property. The user, identified as Echusita, used the platform to showcase the level of dirt and damage she encountered when reclaiming her home.
In the video, which has already garnered thousands of views, the woman complains, saying, “Then people complain when they want to charge a deposit for a rental, look at this.” She then proceeds to document the condition of her apartment with images, highlighting damaged appliances and widespread dirt.
"Look at this brand new washing machine and how they have left it. Look at this refrigerator and how it has been treated," she explained, indignantly pointing out the appliances in deplorable condition. She also showed stained walls, a neglected bathroom, and a kitchen that needs a deep clean.
The tenant concluded her video with a question for her followers: "Do you return the deposit in this case or not?"
Her words have sparked a heated debate in the comments of the post, where some users defended the practice of requiring security deposits as a guarantee to cover potential damages, while others criticized the lack of responsibility among tenants.
Such situations highlight the complications homeowners face in the rental market, especially in Cuba, where resource scarcity and limited access to maintenance products exacerbate these issues.
The video, available on the profile of @echusita_, continues to generate interaction and mixed opinions, focusing the debate on the relationship between landlords and tenants on the island.
