The popular street vendor from Holguín known as "maní por mony (money)" who suffered a cerebral ischemia a few days ago has improved and has been moved out of intensive care, although he remains hospitalized.
Her daughter Elizabeth Estrada expressed gratitude to everyone who, in one way or another, has supported the family during these incredibly difficult days.
"Today, with great happiness, I want to share that our dear father has left the ICU and is now in the geriatric unit, room A, bed 3. Anyone who wishes to visit him and convey their best wishes for his continued recovery is welcome to do so," was posted in the Facebook group "REVOLICO HOLGUIN AQUÍ NO SE VENDEN PAPAS."
More than 300 people commented on the post, celebrating the recovery of the elderly peanut vendor, a beloved figure among the people of Holguín for decades.
Last week, Elizabeth reached out on Facebook seeking help to sell the pounds of roasted peanuts that her father had been unable to sell due to his illness.
The young woman then explained that only if she managed to sell all the product at 260 pesos per pound of roasted peanuts could she recover her father's investment, as he was convalescing and unable to go out for his usual sales.
The reactions were swift. Internet user Roberto Ricardo called for support for the seller. "Let’s all support maní for mony to continue seeing the best street vendor, a part of Holguin culture, get back on his feet," he expressed.
Several people immediately completed their purchase of peanuts, and some even shared photos of themselves buying peanuts from the popular seller, well-loved in Holguín.
