Dozens of Cubans on social media expressed their shock at the murder of 22-year-old Jesús David Corcho Pérez in Jovellanos, Matanzas, who had been reported missing since last Sunday.

Four days after his family issued an urgent alert to locate him, a cousin of Corcho shared the tragic news on Facebook, stating that the young man had been murdered, though no details about the circumstances of the crime were provided.

"They found my cousin dead, so young, damn it. Justice for him, he was just a child," wrote a heartbroken Dêborâ D Dârkar in a post.

The theory that Corcho may have been murdered to steal his motorcycle—a purple motorbike he was riding at the time of his disappearance—circulates among those who knew him, although it has not yet been officially confirmed.

According to those close to him, Corcho was a well-loved young man in the community. Alicia María López Hernández, one of his teachers, described him as "an exceptional human being and my most special student."

For her part, the young man's mother, Maleybis Pérez Camacho, a well-known dentist in the municipality, had sought help to locate her son.

Comments on social media reflect the perception that there is an increase in crime on the island and a lack of rigor in the laws.

"The laws in Cuba are not punishing those criminals with the severity they deserve, who roam freely committing murder over trivial matters," wrote a user on Facebook.

At the close of this report, the authorities have not provided official statements regarding the circumstances of the crime, which remains under investigation.
