In response to the shortage of guardians in Havana, parents of the República del Perú Primary School are taking turns to ensure school safety, highlighting the lack of resources in the Cuban education system.

In light of the serious guardian crisis affecting educational institutions in Havana, the families of the República del Perú Primary School in the La Lisa municipality have been compelled to organize and take shifts to ensure the safety of the students, a task that should be the responsibility of the Ministry of Education.

The educational center, on its Facebook profile, thanked families for their cooperation in the cooperative duty shifts, a gesture they regarded as a demonstration of the educational community's commitment in the absence of security personnel.

"The school director, Leorkis Gómez Romero, along with his Board of Directors, which includes Kenia Duarte, Yusiley, Yudith, and Yoana Rodríguez Villa, as well as the teachers and staff, expressed their gratitude for the support of all families in this noble cause of backing our school due to the shortage of custodians," they stated in the publication.

Although in their public messages they emphasize feeling "proud and happy" to support the school under the slogan "together we are stronger," the situation reflects a concerning reality: the community has been forced to take on security tasks that should fall to the authorities, highlighting a troubling lack of resources in the education system.

With phrases like "Not even a little bit to the thief! There's no respite!", parents are also addressing the growing concern about crime in the school environment.

In July, a man was arrested after committing a knife robbery at the Jorge Arturo Vilaboy secondary school, located in the municipality of Old Havana, highlighting the insecurity present in Cuba, even in educational institutions.

According to the facts presented by Javier Gutiérrez on the social media platform Facebook, the individual who was arrested entered the educational center and took two cell phones from the administrator's office but was caught upon leaving.

Furthermore, the regime is not only incapable of ensuring safety in schools, but it also frequently faces criticism for the inadequate nutrition provided to students.

In 2023, the children attending the República de Costa Rica Primary School in the Luyanó neighborhood of Havana were left without lunch following an alleged theft at the facility.

A worker at the center revealed that management informed the police after noticing the disappearance of six bags of rice and an undisclosed number of cartons of eggs.
