Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated the birth of his granddaughters Alma and Alis on his social media this Sunday, highlighting this moment as a personal source of joy amid the country's complex circumstances.
"In the midst of such difficult days for the country, nothing brings me more personal relief than the birth of new family members," the president wrote in a message on the social media platform X, where he shared the news with his followers.
“Our family grew with the addition of grandchildren. This November, we became the proud grandparents of Alma and Alis,” they added.
The ruler made an initial post that he deleted after a few minutes. He then repeated the same text and images.
In her post, a striking detail stands out: one of the images, featuring the ruler and Lis Cuesta, has a completely blurred background, deliberately obscuring any information that could suggest the exact location where the baby was born, as well as the conditions of the hospital where the birth took place.
In recent days, the stepson of the Cuban leader has made headlines in various media outlets around the world following confirmation of his romance with Cuban actress Ana de Armas.
Ana de Armas and Manuel Anido Cuesta, son of Lis Cuesta, graced the cover of the latest edition of the Spanish magazine ¡HOLA!, which published photos of the two of them strolling together through the streets of Madrid.
"Ana de Armas, we reveal her new love interest. Miguel Anido, stepson of the President of Cuba," says the magazine alongside a photo of the couple.
The romance between Ana de Armas and Manuel Anido Cuesta has sparked outrage in the exile community, particularly in Miami, because the actress's new love is an advisor to a dictator who keeps the people of Cuba without electricity, water, or the right to protest.
