Recent statements by María Medina, who claims to be the former manager of Eduardo Antonio, have caused quite a stir in the media and on social networks.
The lady stated that El Divo de Placetas had a serious drug addiction problem and that Niurka Marcos was also using drugs during the time they were a couple.
The artists' response came quickly. Eduardo Antonio, in an interview with Telemundo, stated that María Medina was never his manager; she was simply a close person who assisted them in a kind of assistant role.
"You think that at this point in the game I need to clarify anything, when my life is so public that I have no filters? Do you think this face, this man who works so hard could be an addict? I am addicted to myself, to shopping, to being happy," El Divo added.
In response to the question of whether he would take legal action against María Medina, the singer stated that he would not, downplaying the significance and validity of her accusations. He recalled that if she didn't act when she took a photo of him in intensive care and made it public, she was even less likely to do so now.
"Neither is she going to be Yolanda Saldívar nor am I the Seleno of Cuba. When people go crazy and have such a level of obsession with something, it can be alarming, which is why one needs to take a step back, and that's what I did. I'm in my place, I have 40 years of career behind me, and what have they not said about me?" asserted the artist.
Niurka's reaction when the press confronted her about it was less than composed; it's no wonder they call her "The Scandalous Woman."
"It's just that I feel lazy telling a non-existent person like her 'give me a drug test,'" and immediately after, he directed a string of insults at María Medina in front of the cameras.
In Eduardo Antonio's Instagram post, a person who worked with him came to his defense: “I know him very well and worked for a time as his assistant here in Mexico. The only thing he was addicted to was shopping and good restaurants, to which he would often invite me because he was always a generous boss and a great friend. He is a very good person and is always helping others, even if sometimes not everyone knows how to be grateful, as seems to be the case with this person I don’t know but who surely received Eduardo’s help at some point, as is his custom. He always tries to help others because he has a big heart, and that’s why he always does well.”
