A woman was stabbed to death in her home in the José Martí District of Santiago de Cuba, allegedly during a robbery attempt, as reported on social media by journalist Yosmany Mayeta, citing testimonies from local residents.
However, the victim was partially undressed, which suggests that she may have also been a victim of rape or sexual abuse.
The deceased woman has been identified as Eglis Pacheco, approximately 37 years old and originally from the town of El Cristo.
He resided in Building G of the José Martí District with his only son.
To make matters worse, Eglis was in the process of emigrating to the United States through the humanitarian parole program.
According to those who knew her, she had planned to leave Cuba in December and was excited about a new beginning.
Her remains have been laid to rest in the El Cristo cemetery, the place of her birth, where part of her family still resides.

On social media, dozens of people who knew the victim have mourned another violent death in Cuba and have called for justice for the deceased.
