Chocolate reveals what might have happened to his career if he had arrived in the United States during the Guachineo era

Arrests and controversies have marked Chocolate MC's career, affecting his public image.

Cuban reggaeton artist Yosvanis Arismin Sierra Hernández, known artistically as Chocolate MC, spoke about a turning point in his artistic career and the impact it would have had on his success if he had arrived in the United States during the peak of his hit "Guachineo."

"If I were to show up at that moment... I wouldn't be singing in the stadium where Bebeshito is performing, no way, I’d be singing in the garden of the White House," assured Chocolate in an interview uploaded to YouTube by Urbano Yuri DJ.

The self-proclaimed "King of Reparto" added that "Guachineo" marked a turning point in his music career. “It became popular without the internet,” he said.

"Guachineo had 300 million streams. In Cuba, it was crazy, and there was neither Facebook nor Instagram nor TikTok. I just released it, and that was it—share it via Bluetooth," the musician stated.

Chocolate was arrested in 2015, just before a tour of the United States and amidst the success of "Guachineo," while performing in Bayamo, Granma.

The reason for the arrest was reportedly that the artist threw a bottle at a police officer during an argument with one of his fans.

He remained imprisoned for two years in Cuba. However, now residing in the United States, he has experienced critical moments in both his personal and professional life that have impacted his public image and musical career.

In March 2024, the artist was arrested in Miami-Dade County on charges of domestic violence. According to reports, a woman accused him of punching her in the face, causing swelling and bruising to her left eye. The arrest occurred after Chocolate refused to pay a debt at a hotel, prompting police intervention.

On April 5 of the same year, Chocolate MC was arrested again, this time in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was accused of kidnapping his ex-partner Hany Díaz, threatening her, and sexually abusing her. Before his arrest, the singer conducted a live broadcast in which he denied the allegations, although the details of the charges were widely reported.

In May, new information came to light. The charges against Chocolate included sexual assault without serious injury, kidnapping, possession of firearms, aggravated assault, and sudden snatching theft. The events stemmed from an incident in which he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend outside an apartment building and transported her to Palm Beach County.

Finally, in August 2024, the singer was arrested again in Miami for driving with a suspended license and for an outstanding arrest warrant in another county. This arrest occurred less than a week after he had been released from a previous detainment, adding more controversies to his record.
