More than 40 Cubans are stranded in Guyana after a flight bound for Havana, operated by Fly All Ways, experienced a serious technical incident early Wednesday morning.
According to a report to CiberCuba from one of the affected individuals, who wished to remain anonymous, the plane took off at 1:45 a.m. and just 20 minutes later, the engines started to catch fire and one of the engines failed, prompting the crew to make an emergency landing.
"I am writing to ask you to raise awareness about a situation that is currently affecting over 40 Cubans. Fortunately, there were no injuries among the passengers, but the airline has yet to provide a return date for those affected," explained the source.
Although no injuries were reported, there is a high level of uncertainty among the passengers due to Fly All Ways' lack of an immediate solution to ensure their return to Cuba.
The incident has raised concerns among the Cubans on the flight, many of whom relied on this trip to return to the country after visiting Guyana, a common destination for those pursuing immigration or business matters.

The situation has left dozens of people waiting and without clear information on when they will be able to continue their journey.
However, this is not the first time that Cubans have faced issues with this airline.
In May, after spending about 15 hours stranded at Georgetown Airport in Guyana, waiting for a flight with the airline Fly All Ways, a group of Cubans scheduled to return to Cuba were taken to Suriname, where they waited several hours to go back to their country.
In two Facebook posts, Alfredo Ballesteros reported on the hardships that Cubans have been experiencing since Tuesday night, when they arrived at Cheddi Jagan International Airport with the intention of boarding a flight to Cuba.
In 2022, Fly All Ways started operating direct flights between Cuba and Guyana. At that time, the fixed fare for each segment was $937.50, making the cost of a round-trip ticket $1,875.00.
