Cuban man requests humanitarian visa to care for his children after the mother dies during cosmetic surgery in Miami

After the death of his wife during cosmetic surgery in Miami, a Cuban man is seeking a humanitarian visa to care for his children in the U.S.

A Cuban man identified as Wilber Álvarez, residing in Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Río, has sought help on social media to reunite with his minor children in the United States after the tragic death of his wife, Mayrelis Mirabal, who passed away following cosmetic surgery in Miami.

The man claims that his children are the result of his marriage to Mirabal and have been left unsupported, which is why he needs a humanitarian visa to be able to travel and take care of them.

Dozens of internet users have suggested reaching out to the influencer Dayron Cano, who has helped several people in similar situations.

Mayrelis Mirabal, 40 years old, underwent an abdominal operation at a well-known clinic in Miami last week. However, according to her friend Chanel's testimony on social media, she suffered complications following the surgery. The friend recounted that when Mayrelis woke up from the procedure, she expressed a desire to vomit, and at that moment, she passed away.

The tragic incident has shocked the Cuban people, who have expressed their grief on social media. "My God, I saw her that day, and we had surgery on the same day. Honestly, I feel so sorry; she was so happy," a woman commented on Facebook.

Mayrelis, the mother of two boys, had managed, with great effort, to bring her children to the United States about a year ago. Now, after her passing, her children are orphaned, and their father is struggling to obtain the necessary permission to reunite with them and provide the support they need.

The case has sparked intense debate about the risks of cosmetic surgeries. While some speculate about a possible medical error, others point out that all surgical interventions carry risks and that each body reacts differently, especially to anesthesia.

There have also been criticisms of individuals who, in pursuit of physical perfection, choose to undergo aesthetic procedures, while others advocate for the freedom to make choices about one's own body.

The clinic where the surgery took place has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
