Today, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the news in Havana is marked by the generosity of certain artists and the inevitable controversies of the year-end.

The Cuban reggaeton artist Chocolate MC, known as "The King of Reparto," has sent a significant food package to his hometown, Los Sitios, in Havana. In an emotional post on his social media, the artist expressed his gratitude towards the community where he grew up, highlighting that while his life is now in the United States, his Cuban roots remain unbreakable. This gesture includes essential food items and meats that will undoubtedly be received with joy by the residents during a time of need.

On its part, Café del Oriente, a state-owned restaurant in Havana, has launched a controversial New Year's Eve dinner offer for 15,000 pesos per person amid the economic crisis plaguing the country. The menu features a full service, including welcome cocktails, a variety of desserts, and an open bar, which strongly contrasts with the reality of many Cubans who are facing severe economic hardships.

In another context, Israel Rojas, the vocalist of the group Buena Fe, was involved in a traffic accident during the rains in Havana. Fortunately, Rojas is now out of danger and is recovering. Support has poured in, especially from the emergency room of the Calixto García General Hospital where he received treatment.

Finally, Cuba has received a significant donation from China in an effort to mitigate the massive blackouts that have been impacting the island. Over 15 tons of equipment and technological components will help improve the national electrical system. This support highlights the growing cooperation between the two countries, although a permanent solution to the energy crisis is still to be defined.
