A man slashes a girl's face in Santiago de Cuba

It appears that the attacker is a psychiatric patient who is destabilized due to a lack of medication. There is no relation between him and the victim.

A man slashed a young woman's face in the Artes y Oficios neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba this Thursday afternoon.

An ambulance, several police patrols, and a vehicle with members of the regime's special forces unit, known as the Black Berets, arrived at the scene.

"The area is militarized," stated independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada on Facebook.

Witnesses to the bloody incident claim that the attacker is a psychiatric patient who is unstable due to a lack of medication.

"You could see his molars; the wound was deep," described a resident of the neighborhood.

Some people claim that the attacker was "under the influence of drugs," although this has not been confirmed, Mayeta clarified.

According to the reporter, the presence of the Black Berets was aimed at controlling the population in case they sought to take justice into their own hands.

Several internet users claimed that the victim and the aggressor have no relationship whatsoever.

"She is even a Christian and has no connections with that guy who did that to her," emphasized Daysi Arletty Bles Delis.

"All psychiatric patients at this time lack their medications, wandering around at all hours and knocking on our doors at any time. (...) It is very sad that such things happen, because their lives and ours are at risk," stated Oneida Quintero.

"That's just for show; they'll admit him for a while and then let him go. It's not easy," lamented Shangosita Linda Yemaya.
