A 75-year-old Cuban sentenced to prison in Uruguay for human trafficking

A 75-year-old Cuban has been sentenced to house arrest inUruguay this Wednesday, accused of a continued crime ofhuman trafficking and scam by Organized Crime Judge María Elena Marinard.

The man sold false documents to other Cubans so that they could reach Montevideo and from there fly to the United States. At least12 people would have achieved their goal in this way.

The Cuban, who was in cahoots with a 50-year-old Uruguayan, who has gone to prison, had been in the Latin American country for just two years, according to Telenoche.

Interpol has located eleven other Cubans in Uruguayan territory, who paid between 5,000 and 8,000 dollars each to leave Cuba, reach Uruguay and from there go to the United States with the corresponding documentation.
