Orlando and Detroit among the most unsafe cities in the U.S. in 2017

Washington, December 4 (EFEUSA) - A study from the website Wallet Hub published today, which analyzes the situation of 180 cities in the U.S., highlights that Detroit (Michigan), Orlando (Florida), and Oklahoma City (Oklahoma) were among the most unsafe cities in the country in 2017.

The cities of Fort Lauderdale (Florida), St. Louis (Missouri), and San Bernardino (California) are recognized as the three least safe municipalities in the United States, while Nashua (New Hampshire), South Burlington (Vermont), and Warwick (Rhode Island) round out the podium as the three safest, according to a statement from Wallet Hub.

The security analysis compares a total of 35 areas, ranging from personal assaults to unemployment rates, including the quality of the roads.

Regarding the hate crime index, Corpus Christi (Texas) records 71.8 times fewer cases than Boston, the city with the highest number of such incidents, with 22.25 per 100,000 residents.

According to the study, Salt Lake City (Utah) has 6.8 times more robberies than Yonkers (New York), where there are 13 cases for every 1,000 residents.

The capital of the country, Washington, has the highest rate of law enforcement personnel in the area, with 639 for every 100,000 residents, 5.7 times the number of workers in the city of Irvine, California, which has 113.

Pedestrian deaths are also measured, with Aurora (Colorado) standing out as the safest location, recording 0.28 per 100,000 inhabitants, in stark contrast to Jackson (Mississippi), which has a rate of 7.62—27.2 times higher.

Regarding the unemployment rate, Detroit has 5.2 times more cases than South Burlington, with rates of 10.9 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively.

The lowest uninsured population rate is in Pearl City (Hawaii), at 3.8 per 100, which is 9.1 times lower than Brownsville (Texas), which has a rate of 34.6 percent.
