The incorporation of Granma outfielder Roel Santos to the Olmecas de Tabasco in the Mexican Baseball League began to bear first fruit last night.
"Dancer" Santos, 31 years old, had a productive day that included his first home run in the strong Aztec circuit. The former Quebec Capitals in the Can-Am League, Chibba Lotte in the Japanese Major Leagues and Caimanes de Barranquilla in the Colombian winter baseball, hit a blow in the 3rd inning of the match against the Saraperos of Saltillo.
It was a clash pitting three Cubans on each side: Roel, Daniel Carbonell and Ronnier Mustelier (sub-hitting leader) against Josuan Hernández, Dariel Álvarez and Henry Urrutia from Saltillo.
Santos was not satisfied and also hit a double, drove in and scored three runs and now his average rests at .316.
The Olmecas troop finished in second-to-last place in the first round in their Zone with 21 victories and 39 losses.
