Cuban shortstop Andy Pérez reached an agreement with the Colorado Rockies this Friday as part of the beginning of the contracting period for international prospects in the Major Leagues.

Pérez, 16 years old and a native of Villa Clara, is in the Dominican Republic, where he arrived in mid-2019, andFrom the first moment he impressed Major League scouts with his speed and movement.

The Cuban promoter's signing bonus was set at $300,000.

The left-handed hitter is the perfect prototype that scouts in Quisqueya are looking for: speed, hitting, defense, glove and arm.

Pérez faced professional pitchers and the results came out immediately. Although it has several attributes to polish, projections indicate that its tools can succeed in the future.

The Rockies management has previously signed several Cuban prospects such as Eddy Díaz, Sandry Hernández and Yanquiel Fernández.
