Cuban State Security threatened opponents with imprisoning them along with those infected with coronavirus, denounced doctor Oscar Elías Biscet, leader of the Emilia project, after being released in Havana.

They did not threaten me, but they told other activists, warning them that they were going to be put in cells along with people infected with coronavirus, said the opponent ofAmericaTV, accusing the authorities of "direct threats of extrajudicial execution."

A police patrol, following orders from State Security, arrested Elías Biscet in the vicinity of his Havana home to prevent him from contacting other opponents this weekend, 9 years after the creation of the Emilia project.

The arrest of Elías Biscet is part of a repressive offensive unleashed by the government, after the popular protests of 11J, when President Díaz-Canel called for civil war among Cubans, said Marcell Felipe, president of the Inspira América foundation, which supported the democratizing efforts of the Emilia project and its main leader in the neighborhoods of Cuba.

The Emilia project, named in honor of the famous Emilia Teurbe Tolón, has as its objectives the conquest of fundamental human rights, democracy and freedom of the Cuban people and was created in January 2013 by Oscar Elías Biscet, Carlos Manuel Pupo Rodríguez , Jorge Omar Lorenzo Pimienta, Ángel Pablo Polanco García, Agustín Figueroa Galindo, Roberto Azcuy and Alfredo M. Cepero.

In September, the leader of the Emilia project assured inThe Wall Street Journal whatCubans want freedom, not exile.
