The first secretary of the Communist Party in Matanzas,Susely Morfa, requested ashé for the Cuban revolution on September 7, when Cubans celebrated the Virgin of Regla, who is syncretized with Yemayá in the Yoruba religion.

Thepopularly known as "the millionaire psychologist", shared on Wednesday on his Twitter account a photo of the Virgin of Regla and another of Caridad del Cobre.

"Today is the day of the Black Saint of Cuba, Virgin of Regla or Yemayá, and tomorrow the day of Cachita, Ochún or Caridad del Cobre, the Mulatísima, the Patroness of Cuba. Ashé pa' all Cubans, ashé pa' the Cuban revolution," he said.

The tweet was shared by the wife of ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel, who asked the same for all Cuban families.

Numerous users of the platform commented indignantly, remembering the years in which the Castro regime prohibited any type of religious demonstration, and believers were harassed, discriminated against, or even imprisoned for practicing their faith.

"Now the PCC is religious, after they persecuted and banned it for decades, communism goes against religions, so you are not a communist then," said one Internet user.

"I'm dying, my mother had to keep the saints because if not my dad would lose his job, and where she lived all the factors in the community rejected the spiritualists, how desperate they are, now they also love religion, it's clear that they are alone" said the user named Vicent.

"You don't even believe in the peace of the tombs and now you come with all those stories. Well, you persecuted anyone who had any religious belief. Hypocrisy at the highest level," commented the Internet user identified as pim-pam-pum.

Other tweeters clarified to Susely that the main blessing that the Cuban people need is the end of the dictatorship.

"Freedom for all Cuban families. May all Cuban families be freed from the evil that oppresses us," asked a young man.

"The ashé that this people needs is that they no longer take away their food. The ashé of the people of Cuba is that you and the hired help leave," said a Cuban from the United States.

"He says that ashé... What is needed is for them to leave the country so that Cuban families can receive the ashé as they deserve," stressed a young woman.

Every September 7, Cuban religious celebrate the Virgin of Regla, named Yemayá in Yoruba tradition.

The celebration usually brings together thousands of people at the National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Regla, in the municipality of the same name in Havana.

In the hermitage there is the image of a black virgin, dressed in blue with white lace. Believers gather to see her and make their requests, and place their flowers and candles in front of the altar.

On the other hand, this Thursday, September 8, the day of the Virgin of Caridad del Cobre, patron saint of Cuba, is celebrated.

Neighbors and faithful of the churches of the Holy Custodian Angel, the Cathedral and San Francisco, carried theimage of the Virgin of Charity in a procession through neighborhoods of Old Havana.

"From the Havana cathedral and to the headquarters of the Padre Usera Nursery, on Muralla Street No. 60, the image of the Virgin of Charity of Cobre was carried on a litter, on the seventh day of the Novena dedicated to the Mother and Patroness of Cuba," announced the magazineNew word, of the Archdiocese of Havana.

Attendees prayed to the Virgin for "the education of children, so that the Catholic Church can maintain and find new spaces to instill in the little ones the values of Christian social doctrine," the publication said.
