The companyGaviota Tour S.A. charges 240 Cuban pesos (CUP) to national visitors for entry to theEl Nicho Natural Park, in the Cumanayagua municipality, Cienfuegos.
The newspaperSeptember 5 published an article denouncing the high price of admission to this beautiful natural park, to which Cienfuegos residents and visitors from other provinces could once enter for free.
Under the management ofSeagull, a company subordinated to the GAESA military business complex, the value of the entry toThe Niche it doesn't stop going up. In 2019 it cost 20 pesos and currently they are going for240 CUP, with only a discount for students, who must pay 120 CUP.
As in other Cuban parks, El Nicho now also has an optional Canopy offer to slide along four stretches of line over the waterfalls, vegetation and bathers. This offer is not included with the ticket, anyone who wants to go on the adventure must pay another 240 CUP.
Last week, user Leosbel C, who identified himself on the TripAdvisor platform as "administrator" of El Nicho Natural Park, explained that there are new prices for tourists as well.
"As an administrator,to improve information to our clients, it is good for you to know that the entrance payment is now not made on the spot. Is bymagnetic card from Cumanayagua, the town you must pass if you come from Cienfuegos. Taxi drivers usually know about it or through travel agencies," he said.
He also warned that "they work with alimited capacity and there is a risk of not being able to access it. Heentrance price is $10.00 USD or its equivalent in euros," Leosbel told the foreign visitors.
A few weeks ago the Cuban government reported that until July it received834,891 international visitors. The figure is six times higher than that of the same period in 2021, but insufficient to meet government goals on tourism.
The National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) specified that a total of 1,200,580 international travelers arrived in the country, if Cubans residing abroad are included in said data.
The Niche It is located in the heart of Escambray, about 50 kilometers from the city of Cienfuegos. It has a complex of natural pools nestled in a mountainous environment. It is an ideal natural space for lovers of outdoor activities, but it is increasingly inaccessible to the Cuban people.
