HeConsulate of Spain in Havana Since this Thursday, appointments have been made available for the request of thefirst passportof Cubans naturalized as Spanish citizens, registered until September 30 of this year.
According to the announcement made through Twitter, Cubans must be registered in the Consular Civil Registry.
According to official information from thepageof consular services, for those who apply for a passport for the first time, on Wednesdays the appointments for those belonging to the third group will be published (registered in 2021 and until September 30, 2022), while on Thursdays the appointments for the first (registered in the Consular Registry in 2019) and the second group (registered in 2020).
“In response to the high demand for the passport application service, in order to facilitate the management of appointments for our users, from now on and until further notice, appointments will be published one day of the week and starting at 8 a.m. Cuba time,” the site indicated.
When the system indicates that there are no longer available appointments, the text clarified, you must wait for the offer of new appointments the following week.
The page also specifies that to requestpassportIt is essential “the personal appearance of the petitioner, regardless of his age”, pay the set fee and present the required documents.
The notification of appointments for first passports occurs within the framework of the newrequest made by the Spanish minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, so that the embassies and consulates abroad could prepare and expedite the procedures for applicants who want to benefit from the new Nietos law.
According to the minister, the consulates that have the greatest demand for applications will be reinforced after the entry into force of the Democratic Memory law.
At the end of September the consular section stated that they could only carry out legalizations or certifications of documentsthe holders of these or people who present themselves with an authorization signed by the holder and which until then could be done by any family member, without the need for authorization.
