Cuban arrested in Dominican Republic for international arms trafficking

A Cuban who was wanted for international arms trafficking was arrested in the Dominican Republic and deported to the United States, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) reported this Friday.

Elieser Sori Rodriguez, 51 years old, was wanted in the Southern District of Florida for international arms trafficking since 2021.

"Among them are rifles, pistols, shotguns, 350 units of ammunition and 56 magazines, 250 pistol cartridges, 100 for 12-millimeter shotguns, 35 magazines for pistols and 21 for rifles, which arrived camouflaged in household items in a container from Miami. , United States," the entity detailed.

The Cuban was transferred to the United States based on the Immigration Law, which does not admit foreigners with criminal records or fugitives from the justice of their country into national territory.

Last February, the Dominican Republic Police arrested a young Cuban accused of swindling 376,128 pesos (about $6,680 dollars) in at least three commercial establishments where he presented himself as a Major League baseball player.
