A city in Broward County, south Florida, shortened the work week to just four days starting August 3 of this year.
According to astatementof the press, the city of davie, with a population of more than 105,000 inhabitants, adopted this measure of extending the workday of employees from eight to 10 hours a day, four days a week, replacing the typical five-day work week of eight hours a day.
"This schedule adapts to customer service needs early in the morning and late in the afternoon," said the city's site.
Municipal employees who take advantage of this measure will work 10 hours a day instead of eight.
In this transition, more hours of service will be offered in the morning and afternoon to community members, the statement specified.
Municipal offices will be open Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, including city hall, community services division, public services department, administrative and customer service offices, as well as such as the lobbies of the fire and police departments, according to authorities.
Parks and recreation facilities, programming and special events will maintain current operations and utility workers will continue to work seven days a week.
Likewise, the Davie police and fire departments will continue to respond to calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Other spaces, such as the Aquatic and Fitness Center, will continue to operate during their usual hours to provide services to their clients, according to authorities. Parks and play spaces will not be affected either.
