Commander, the German shepherd who became part of the Biden family In December 2021, he was kicked out of the White House after a series of incidents in which he bit several Secret Service agents and members of the presidential residence staff.

The news was confirmed byElizabeth Alexander, spokesperson for the first lady,Jill Biden, in statements to various American media, according toTelemundo 51.

“The President and First Lady care deeply about the safety of those who work in the White House and those who protect them every day. They remain grateful for the patience and support of the US Secret Service and everyone involved, as they continue to work toward solutions. Commander is not currently on the White House campus while next steps are evaluated,” Alexander said.

The decision to oust Commander was made after the networkCNN reported that the German shepherd had been involved in more incidents than had previously been confirmed. These incidents included attacks on White House staff members, raising concerns about security at the presidential residence.

In recent months, several of these attacks have come to light, increasing pressure on theBiden administration to take action. The most recent incident occurred in late September when Commander bit a Secret Service agent, who required immediate medical attention.

Last November, another officer also had to be hospitalized after being bitten by the dog on his arms and legs. In July, the White House had indicated that they were considering subjecting Commander to new training to address his aggressive behavior, but so far it had not been confirmed whether this training had taken place.

Commander's arrival at the White House was a gift for the presidentJoe Biden, whohad lost his previous German shepherd, Champ, months earlier.

However, despite the intention of providing company to the presidential family, the dog's aggressive behavior has led to its departure from the presidential residence.

This Wednesday, at a press conference, journalists asked the White House spokesperson if the Bidens were not worried about possible lawsuits from their victims, as is often the case with bites from aggressive dogs. The spokesperson avoided answering the question.

Commander's expulsion adds to thehistory of presidential pets in the United States, since most presidential families have had animal company in the White House.

Barack Obama had two Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny, while George W. Bush shared his time in the White House with three dogs and a cat.

The Bidens, for their part, had adopted another German shepherd in 2018, Major, who was transferred to their residence in Delaware after attacking a member of the presidential security.
