Sonia Montenegro Bolaños, a 39-year-old Colombian citizen, who is in the United States with a “nonimmigrant visa,” was arrested last Friday on charges of forced robbery and conspiracy to commit forcible robbery, as reported local media.
The arrest warrant states that the victim - a 38-year-old man - had attended the stadium on April 2 to watch the Miami Open tennis tournament and when he was crossing a pedestrian bridge to go to his car, Montenegro put his fingers between him. the luxurious watch and wrist, and began to pull it off.
The man covered his watch to prevent it from being stolen. The two struggled over the watch, but a second woman – identified by police only by her last name, “Sabogal” – snatched it from them and immediately gave it to a third person.
Authorities reported that the man managed to grab both women, but at that moment Montenegro began yelling “rape” and he let them go, after which they fled towards the parking lot.
The entire incident was captured on a surveillance camera.
According to the arrest report, Sabogal is also a Colombian citizen and is in the U.S. illegally. Both women “are flight risks and may flee back to Colombia or another state.” It is unknown if Sabogal has been located at this time.
