Two people have died and a third was injured this Monday due to a man who opened fire with a rifle in the center of Brussels.
These are two Swedish citizens who were in Belgium accompanying their national soccer team,several media outlets reported.
The Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, has referred to the incident as an “attack”, while a video of the alleged murderer claiming responsibility for the incident on behalf of the Islamic State is circulating on the networks.
The police are looking for the perpetrator of the events at the same time that the Belgian government has activated maximum alert and border control.
Some media claim that the murderer got off a motorcycle wearing a fluorescent vest and started shooting while shouting “Allah is great.”
“We live for our religion and we die for our religion, thank God. "Your brother Abdesalam has avenged the Muslims, I just killed three Swedes," says in the video the alleged terrorist, who fled on the same motorcycle after shooting at point-blank range at a man on the ground and at a taxi.
The football match between Belgium and Sweden, corresponding to the qualification for the Euro Cup, has been suspended at half-time at the request of the Swedish players.
This event occurs after a French professor was murdered in Arras last week, which has put that country on anti-terrorist alert and in the midst of the worsening of theconflict between Israel and Hamas.
