The young Cuban pitcher Marlon Vega signed with the Mayos de Navojoa in the Mexican ARCO League of the Pacific, journalist Francys Romero announced this Monday

In the next few hours, Vega will join the team, Romero said.

Vega left Cuba for Mexico last July looking to sign with an MLB organization.

The young man was Rookie of the Year in the 60th National Series with the Mayabeque team and MVP in the 61st, he was part of the island squad for the U-23 World Cup in 2021 and 2022, and was a reserve for the Cuba team that attended the fifth World Classic.

In August of last year, it had been reported that Vega would be tested in the Japanese Nihonkai Ocean Baseball League, after signing a contract with the Ishikawa Millon Stars team.

In the 61st National Series, Vega participated in 23 of his team's victories, with 11 wins and 12 saves. In his debut during Series 60, he left a 9-2 record with three saves.

The right-hander's excellent results earned him to be considered one of the best prospects in Cuba today and a leader in the U-23 national teams.
