Dolphin family visits Deering Estate in Miami

In a scene that seemed straight out of a story, where the beauty of nature is intertwined with the grandeur of history, a group of dolphins decided to surprise the visitors ofDeering Estate in Miami, offering an unusual show.

The lucky ones present did not miss the opportunity to capture the moment with their cameras, and the images quickly graced the museum's Instagram profile, leaving a record of such a peculiar event.

The presence of these marine mammals on the museum's docks added an extra layer of charm to this already significant place in the city.

Deering Estate showcases Miami's rich cultural and natural heritage

The property was acquired byCharles Deering, brother ofJames Deering the founder of Vizcaya, around the year 1913.

Its 320 acres house evidence of 10,000 years of human history and also the life of the Tequesta, a Native American tribe, going back 2,000 years.

Charles made this region his winter retreat after his adventurous life as a Navy retiree, but little did he know he was leaving Americans a treasure of history and architecture.

The Charles Deering Collection in Miami

Upon retiring from the Navy, Charles traveled the world for eight years collecting works of art and decorative pieces. He commissioned the construction of his home to a Philadelphia architect who equipped it with advances of the time such as one of the first elevators and a library full of books in several languages.

The estate itself is a time capsule, containing not only historical artifacts but also an artistic collection that included works by great masters such as El Greco and Velázquez. In the 1920s this collection was valued at more than $60 million.

Recognizing its historical and cultural value, Florida politicians and activists threw themselves into the fight for its preservation, ensuring that future generations can enjoy this direct link to the past and the cultural and natural wealth that Deering Estate represents.

The property currently belongs to the state of Florida and is open to the general public for an affordable entrance fee. They promote various programs for the preservation of species and the protection of the arts.

This institution merges the experience of contemplating the scientific advance and refinement of other eras, with charming spaces for interaction with local fauna and flora. The recent visit of the dolphins showed thatDeering Estate It is still a place full of magic that can surprise us all.
