Eduardo Antonio, known to everyone as El Divo de Placetas, joined the list of artists who have refused to participate in the celebration of Cuban Heritage Day at the Los Marlins stadium, scheduled for May 18th.
The artist posted a brief message on his Instagram profile, where he officially announced the cancellation of his performance at the Los Marlins stadium.
El Divo received numerous messages of gratitude for supporting the Cuban emigration, and many comments recalled what happened last year during the V World Baseball Classic, when, in a game between Cuba and the USA, the Marlins prevented fans wearing sweaters with the slogan "Patria y Vida" from entering the stadium.
Recently, the comedy duo Los Pichy Boys also issued an official statement rejecting any event that involves the Miami Marlins.
"This exile has memory, and we, the dignified Cubans, are many more," stated Alejandro González and Maikel Rodríguez on their account on the social media platform X.
Similarly, the team from Las Locuras de Miguelín, known for its popularity on social media, announced its refusal to take part in the Day of Cuban Heritage, an event scheduled to celebrate the Cuban presence in Major League Baseball.
The decision was announced through the official account of influencer Miguel David Estévez, who shared a statement in his Instagram stories.
In the statement, they expressed that although the invitation was seen as an opportunity, the events of March 2023 cannot be overlooked.
Cuban professional boxing champion Yordenis Ugás publicly distanced himself from the management of the Miami Marlins professional baseball team, rejecting their invitation to participate in the event for Cuban Heritage Day.
The boxer justified his decision due to the affront to the Cuban exile community during the celebration of the V World Baseball Classic in March 2023.
The singer Leoni Torres has confirmed his participation in the celebration. The artist announced that he will sing the national anthem of Cuba at the Miami Marlins stadium.
"That day 'history will be made,' Leoni said on his Instagram account, where many Cubans have criticized his decision."
Cuban Heritage Day is a celebration that is typically held on May 20th, the date when the republic was established in Cuba in 1902.
