With an open casket at his home, this Thursday the lifeless body of Eliecer López Bravo, better known as "El Moro," is being mourned. He was stabbed to death early this morning near his residence.
"It was very sad to see how his son uncovered the box and lay down on his father's body," said one of those present in a testimony shared with the journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, who initially reported the tragic event.
A couple of photos shared by the communicator demonstrate that the statement is literal, and that Eliecer's son, in a display of desperation and pain, lay down with his father in the coffin.
"Her son is very upset about this situation, it breaks his heart," added the source.
"El Moro" is being laid out in his house, located on Madre Vieja street, between Aguilera and Enramada, and his burial is scheduled for 1:00 PM today.
Eliecer López Bravo died a few blocks from the police station known as "La motorizada".
A local resident previously stated that the attacker -whose identity has not been disclosed- "was out for a walk", and had been drinking with Moro hours before the incident.
It was a police officer in the area who arrested the murderer, who - according to the cited source - tried to attack the officer, who used pepper spray to defend himself.
The motives that led to the fatal stabbing incident, which ended with the victim receiving three fatal stab wounds – one in the eye, another in the neck, and the last one in the lung – have not been disclosed.
Images previously shared by Mayeta Labrada showed large blood stains at the entrance of a house, which were blurred due to them being a highly sensitive image.
El Moro has its past. It's not a very good or peaceful past, but now he was keeping a low profile, he wasn't involved in anything. lamented someone who knew the victim well in statements to the aforementioned source.
Neighbors in the area confirmed that Eliecer López Bravo lost a lot of blood and a resident urged to finish cleaning the area because there was a bad smell.
In the comments section of the publication, dozens of people who knew the victim expressed their shock at the crime and feared a resurgence of reports of violence in Cuba, following a slight decrease in reports of violent incidents in recent weeks.
