Tragedy in Florida: Eight dead and 45 injured in farmworker bus accident

An accident occurred this Tuesday in north-central Florida, where eight people died and 45 were injured after a bus carrying farm workers crashed on a state highway.

The 2010 model bus carrying “approximately 53 farm workers” and a 2001 Ford Ranger collided around 6:35 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reported, cited by CNN.

According to emergency officials, after the collision, the bus left the road, went through a fence and ended up overturned.

James Lucas of the Marion County Fire Rescue reported that eight people died at the scene. In addition, the 45 injured were transferred to medical centers, with eight of them in critical condition.

However, Lt. Patrick Riordan of the Florida Highway Patrol warned at a news conference that sand expect other people to die as a result of the accident.
