Up to six days on the waiting list to travel to Havana from the Santiago de Cuba terminal

The current transportation crisis in Cuba has caused travelers seeking to make the journey from Santiago de Cuba, in the eastern part of the country, to Havana, to be on the waiting list for approximately up to six days.

A netizen denounced it on social media, taking the opportunity to recount the case of his mother, whom he described as "diabetic, hypertensive," and who now also faces "stress and discontent" due to the situation.

The informant specifically referred to the Passenger Terminal located on Martí Street in that city, from where the buses depart to the Cuban capital or to other provinces.

"I have my mother, whom I have had to take care of for the past six days," stated the user Hugo A. Valdez Hernández in the Facebook group "Bazar Santiago de Cuba."

However, he added that the inconveniences are not only in the case of his mother but also affect the users who are forced to use said service.

The complaints are not only from her. We know people who have been there for over a week, and on top of that, they have to endure the mafia and theft that is going on there. The waiting list has been over six days," he stated.

He added that it was not until this Wednesday, May 22, that the number did not advance, being at 110 and ending at 153, although it was not clear whether his mother was able to move forward or take the transportation.

"Stop the abuse, the other day an elderly man passed out. If you can do it, go ahead, but don't have people going there for more than a week selling bus tickets behind the curtain. Have a little conscience, in this country not everyone has 5000 pesos to pay for a bus," was the call made as part of a complaint that highlights the serious transportation situation that Cuba is facing.

The comments on the post point out how terrible and abusive the situation is, questioning the government's justifications that always blame the United States' "blockade" as the cause of all problems on the island.

"There are two blockades that we face daily for any type of paperwork, and the other one we already know. The truth is that it is an unhappiness and causes upset," said a user.

Another person mentioned that high prices sometimes do not correspond to the train's capacity, and as a result, they end up traveling empty because that is what the station managers prefer.

A few months ago, passengers from the waiting list terminal in Villanueva, Havana, protested demanding a response from the Cuban authorities to the transportation crisis being experienced in the country.

Several videos shared on the internet show hundreds of people crowded in the place, waiting for the moment when a vehicle will take them to their destination.

But that situation has not found a fortunate path for the passengers. While the harsh consequences seem to prolong in the life of the Cuban.

Recently, the Cuban ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, during the YouTube program 'From the Presidency,' which he hosts himself, stated that the transportation sector is going through "the worst moments in recent years."

He acknowledged that the country does not have the necessary income and fuel to stabilize the Cuban public transportation, which has some of its units stopped due to lack of parts and poor technical condition, and another part due to lack of fuel.

In at least 121 municipalities in the 15 provinces of the country, there is a significant concern among the population due to the lack of transportation.
