The Provincial Transportation Company of Havana, in charge of managing urban buses in the capital of Cuba, officially announced through its social networks that the cost of the ticket on all its routes is $2.00 CUP.

This includes main lines, feeders and complementary services. However, a complaint on social networks indicates that this rate is not met on all state buses that circulate through the city.

He official profile on Facebook Infotransporte, highlighted the case of a Yutong bus number 5302, which covered route P-14 to the Frank País Hospital.

They point out that on May 14, 2024, at 9:50 a.m., the driver demanded $5.00 CUP from passengers, ignoring the modified official fare.

"On buses, ticket prices are not correctly identified so that the population that does not have access to social networks has greater knowledge. The other thing is that the same stop inspectors allow these drivers to charge the altered value of the ticket," says the text.

The lack of adequate signage on vehicles and the apparent misinformation among transportation inspectors contribute to this problem, mainly affecting those citizens who do not have access to social networks to find out about fare changes.

Authorities and users of the service requested a thorough review of these incidents and that administrative sanctions be applied to drivers who fail to comply with the established regulations.

In a country with extreme inflation, where workers' salaries do not make ends meet, it is essential that public transport vehicles clearly display the cost of the fare to ensure that the population is informed and protected against excessive charges.
