The 75-year-old Cuban elderly man Juan Gallo Bell, who had been missing since May 23rd in Santiago de Cuba, was found safe and sound this Saturday, as confirmed by his family members.

"He is stable, when they found him he seemed scared, but now he is talking loudly and everything," Gallo Bell's niece, who had reported his disappearance, informed journalist Yosmany Mayeta.

The elderly man, who suffers from diabetes and senile dementia, had been last seen on Thursday at 9:30 am on the corner of his house located on Siboney Road, kilometer 1, Loma de San Juan, and was found near the J Buildings in the José Martí District, the independent journalist said on Facebook.

The family had clarified that although the elderly man suffers from senile dementia, "he is not an aggressive person."

Reports of disappearances of Cubans are becoming more frequent in recent months, as well as the publication of requests for help on social media to obtain information, all amid a context of increasing violence in the country.

Part of those systematic reports of disappearances are related to people who suffer from a condition or disability that makes them more likely to disappear.

In recent days, the report of an 18-year-old autistic young man residing in the city of Matanzas had a happy ending, as he had been missing from his home for almost a week and was finally found safe and sound.
