Melisa Odaisi Peraza Cabrera, a 24-year-old woman who had been missing since May 14th, is in urgent need of help, as she is part of a group of 19 rafters lost at sea.
The feminist platform YoSíTe Creo in Cuba asked for urgent help from the authorities on Sunday after the young woman informed her family of her situation.
According to the aforementioned source, a group of seven women and 12 men are adrift somewhere along the coast of Artemisa and/or Mayabeque, it is unknown if it is the north or south coast.
YoSíTeCreo in Cuba stated that Melisa contacted her family in the city of Cárdenas, in Matanzas, to inform them of the danger they are facing.
Neither she nor anyone in the group was able to send their geolocation because they barely have signal or battery. They have little water left. We have lost contact since 3:12 pm Cuba time," concluded the feminist platform, which asked the authorities to mobilize urgently to find them.
Previously, activist and independent journalist Marta María Ramírez had reported that Peraza Cabrera had been seen for the last time in mid-May, when she left her house to meet a man she had met through social media.
The young woman has three young children: a four-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy, and another girl who is just four months old.
Before getting in touch with her family to inform them of the danger she is facing, the family of Melisa Odaisi Peraza Cabrera heard news of her on May 27, when an acquaintance saw her on Ayestarán Street in Havana, walking with two men.
At that time, they informed the authorities as well as feminist organizations, who were afraid she might be a victim of some type of violence.
To locate her, they provided a photo as well as a complete description of the young woman. They asked anyone who saw her to contact two phone numbers of family members or directly with the police.
Until the closing of this note, neither authorities nor official press media have commented on the request for urgent help for the rafters.
