A Cuban young woman who asked for help after shipwreck near Artemisa was rescued.

A young Cuban woman who was reported missing by her family is now safe at home after being rescued from a drifting boat near the coast of Artemisa.

The feminist platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba reported on its social media that Melisa Odaisi Peraza Cabrera, 24 years old and resident of Cárdenas, Matanzas, was already at home.

Peraza Cabrera, mother of three children under four years old, was last seen on May 14, the day she left her house heading to Havana to meet a man she had met through social media.

On May 27th, after several days of unsuccessful attempts to contact her and upon learning that an acquaintance had seen her from afar on Ayestarán Street in Havana walking with two young men, the family filed a report with the police in Cárdenas.

However, on Sunday, he got in touch with his family to ask for help and said that he was part of a group of 19 rafters who were lost at sea.

YoSíTe Creo en Cuba intervened and demanded that the authorities begin the search for the rafters, seven women and 12 men.

It was reported that they were adrift somewhere off the coast of Artemisa and/or Mayabeque.
