A Cuban family is asking for help to be able to operate on a five-month-old baby who has a brain tumor.
The girl's aunt wrote to CiberCuba to make the case public, as the girl needs medical supplies that, according to doctors, do not exist in the country.
"I have my five-month-old niece admitted, waiting for an operation, but unfortunately, among the medical supplies she needs is a cerebrospinal fluid shunt valve with a filter, and it is not available," he said.
The baby girl has a diagnosis of a brain tumor located between the fourth ventricle and the pineal area, which must be urgently removed before it affects other areas and hinders the child's development.
At this moment, she is admitted to the intermediate care unit at the Eliseo Noel Camaño Children's Hospital in Matanzas.
"It is expected and being sought for a valve or catheter with a medium pressure filter to divert from the head to the abdomen, so that the tumor cells do not come into contact with the abdomen and planting does not occur, because it is a germinoma and has grown significantly," explained the aunt.
