Amid the transportation crisis in Cuba and fuel shortages, the government has promised Cubans the creation of electric tricycles that will feature advanced technology and include integrated solar panels.

The vehicles will not only be used for transporting passengers; they must also develop a communication system and broadcast topics of interest to the regime using their two screens and audio equipment.

The Camilo Cienfuegos Electronic Industry Company (EIE) will be responsible for manufacturing these electric tricycles, claiming they are of "high technology" and "with multiple features," which is quite uncommon in Cuba.

Edel Gómez Gómez, the general director, said to Granma that the vehicles will be equipped with three photovoltaic solar panels. In addition, they will store energy in their batteries to provide light and electricity during energy contingency situations in a community, such as at a small water pumping station.

He stated that the production of these tricycles is in response to a directive from the leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, aimed at addressing issues in certain communities, although he did not specify which ones or when Cubans will see these tricycles providing services on the streets of the country.

In April, the regime announced that they are preparing a batch of around twenty electric tricycles for passenger transport.

In that case, Cuban companies producing these means of transportation have also not specified which provinces will benefit or which routes will be covered by these vehicles.
