The Cuban Iron Man delivers aid to elderly couple: "Their family abandoned them to go to the U.S."

The former boxer Lino Tomasen, known as "The Cuban Iron Man", delivered humanitarian aid to a vulnerable elderly couple in Havana.

In a video uploaded to his Instagram profile, Tomasen arrives at the grandparents' house with a foldable walker (burrito) donated by kind-hearted individuals in Miami, United States, for the lady, unable to walk on her own. He also brings some food for the couple.

"This is for you. Go on, I want to see you walk with it," says the young man to the elderly woman, who with a smiling face begins to walk around the house leaning on the small walking aid, while Tomasen and a woman who is with him encourage her.

"Walk without fear, my heart," she encourages, revealing that the woman has already fallen several times.

"The Cuban Iron Man" thanked all the "brothers" who made the donation possible, including activist Limay Blanco, well known for his help to homeless people.

Sir, thank you for sending me this. Here we are helping this elderly couple who have been together for many years, but right now they don't have anyone to take care of them. A friend of mine is taking care of them," Tomasen explained at the end of his video.

In the publication's text, the young man expressed: "How sad I felt to see that elderly couple, who according to my contacts were left alone in Cuba by their relatives to go to the United States, and they never heard from them again."

“But as the word of the Lord says: whoever gives to the poor and the needy, God lends to them, and what you offer with kindness and love will be multiplied for you, and if we offer a drop of kindness, we will receive an ocean of reward,” he stated. “I know that one of my followers will contact me and will send something to them to continue helping them. Thank you.”

Tomasen is one of the Cuban activists who carry out altruistic work to help people in need and vulnerable, in the midst of the economic and social crisis that Cuba is going through.

The aid movements among Cubans are activated on social networks, where many people share their problems and activists get involved in collaborating, supported by donors residing abroad and Cubans on the island.
