The puppy who suffered a radial and ulnar fracture after falling down a staircase, an incident that prompted animal welfare advocates to raise 16,500 pesos to pay for her surgery, is evolving positively after being surgically treated.
The activist Yenney Caballero, who organized the collection, reported on Facebook that the dog named Princesa was operated on and fixators were placed, with only her recovery pending.
"We did it, gentlemen, we did it once again, all of us," pointed out Caballero, who thanked all the people who supported this case, from those who donated money and shared the post, to those who offered positive messages.
The animal shelter also shared a video in which Princess can be seen walking with difficulty as a result of the surgical procedure. However, the animal's strength is evident, which bodes well for a prompt and successful recovery.
"I am going to keep saving lives, I will continue to be a light on this planet, this is my cause, nothing will stop me, I am doing good to living beings who deserve it," said Caballero.
This activist, who resides in San José de Las Lajas, Mayabeque, and has demonstrated on more than one occasion to be a staunch defender of animal rights, recently was involved in rescuing a dog that was locked up and starving.
The gentleman learned about the situation of a Siberian Husky puppy that had been locked up for three days in an abandoned house in San José de las Lajas, and he immediately went to rescue the poor animal.
The woman broke a piece of the acrylic from the door and when she put her cell phone's camera inside, she could see that the place was abandoned and that the prisoner was a puppy.
Indignant and not knowing what to do, Caballero finally decided to release the animal through the opening in the acrylic and told the dog owners to look for her and, if they wanted, report her to the police.
