President Joe Biden's campaign insisted on Friday that the president will not abandon the presidential race, despite the acknowledgment by the leader that "I don't debate like I used to," after his disastrous performance in the televised showdown against his electoral rival, Donald Trump.
Biden acknowledged his weak performance while giving a speech in North Carolina on Friday and admitted that "I am not a young man."
"I no longer walk with as much ease as before. I do not speak with the eloquence of before. I do not debate as well as before, but I know what I do: I know how to tell the truth. I know how to distinguish between good and evil. And I know how to do this job, I know how to do things. And I know what millions of Americans know: that when you are knocked down, you get back up," he said.
However, there are some fractures between those who insist on continuing to support his candidacy and the Democrats who prefer a last-minute change.
According to CNN, Biden's advisors spent Friday morning calling Democratic congressmen, donors, and other key supporters in the hopes of dispelling some of the widespread panic.
An analyst told the media that there is "panic" among the Democrats after the debate between Biden and Trump, where the president appeared disoriented and slow.
On Thursday, Joe Biden and Donald Trump faced off in a historic debate, in which the whole world could see the mental health status of the White House chief.
Biden struggled to keep up with the conversation, he stuttered and displayed unstable behavior, sometimes hesitating and other times remaining silent for periods, as if he had a lapse.
Since then, many in the Democratic Party believe he should withdraw from the reelection campaign.
