The former president Donald Trump stated this Saturday that he has already selected his running mate and hinted at some details about his plans for the night of the debate next Thursday.

According to Trump, he already has in mind the person chosen to accompany him in his mandate if he emerges victorious in the 2024 presidential elections, and he pointed out that his candidate will possibly be in the debate scheduled for June 27, reported NBC News.

However, the Republican emphasized that "nobody knows" for certain his choice.

However, the news portal cited emphasized that for the position, Trump has considered Governor Doug Burgum from North Dakota, Senator J.D. Vance from Ohio, and Senator Marco Rubio from Florida.

Burgum and Vance are considered the two main finalists, but Rubio remains on the list, although a constitutional obstacle would require Trump or Rubio to establish their residence outside of Florida, NBC News reported.

Brian Hughes, senior advisor to former President Trump, stated in a press release that the most important criterion for selecting the vice-presidential candidate is to find "a strong leader who can be an excellent president for eight years, after the next four-year term of Trump ends."

In addition, according to the cited portal, the Republican candidate has held informal political meetings with confidants and potential contenders.

Vance spoke with Trump about the economy and inflation, and Rubio met with the Republican when the former president was in Washington earlier this month, NBC News reported.

Despite the uncertainty, officially we have to wait for the Republican National Convention, which will take place from July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee, where delegates from across the country will officially nominate the party's candidates for president and vice president.

The former president said he plans to announce his vice presidential pick "right around the convention," hinting that it could be sooner.

“Perhaps a little earlier, but it could be at the convention,” said Trump.

His comments on Saturday occurred during a stop at a restaurant in Philadelphia before a rally.

Pennsylvania is expected to be a crucial state on the road to the White House. Joe Biden flipped Pennsylvania blue in 2020 and continues to campaign across the state as the elections draw near.

Recently, Trump has been at the center of a controversial billboard placed on a central highway in the city of Miami.

The billboard sparked protests among the former president's followers, who demanded its removal.

The poster that compared Trump to Fidel Castro, calling him a dictator, will finally be removed.
