Warnings issued about parties in the dangerous coastal area of Santiago de Cuba

The chief of lifeguards in Santiago de Cuba warned about parties being held in a coastal area that is not designated as a swimming zone.

The government of Santiago de Cuba seems to overlook the proverb "a warned war spares no soldier," as the lack of memory has erased the events that occurred at the Finca de los Monos in Havana. This mistake could be repeated in the eastern province with the planned festivities in a coastal area that lacks certification as a bathing zone.

The alert was shared on Facebook by Aris Arias Batalla, Provincial Operations and Relief Coordinator for Aquatic Safety in Santiago de Cuba, who promoted a party in the coastal area of Aguadores, warning that "it is not a beach and is not certified as a public bathing area."

However, traditionally, the people of Santiago have used this area for swimming, a fact that is well-known both to the lifeguard who issued the alert and to the local authorities. In fact, there are several dining facilities nearby.

Arias explained that this "is a coastal area with significant risks and vulnerabilities. Beyond the reef bank, there are deep waters, strong currents, and we must remember that this is open sea. Just a few meters away, there are liquid waste discharges from the San Juan River, as well as from communities and state entities that use storm drains into the riverbed or ditch. All of these flow into Aguadores."

Additionally, he noted that the seabed is bordered by a natural area known as a cliff, which leads to deep waters. “For those reasons and many others, it does not qualify as a beach,” the lifeguard emphasized.

Following the events that took place at the Finca de Los Monos in Havana, the regime claimed to have no knowledge of this activity, much less authorized it.

However, this was refuted, as one of the organizers even appeared on national television to discuss the event, stating that it was known to the local government.

Now in Santiago de Cuba, "tropical parties" are being organized in a location that is not certified as a bathing area, and once again, the regime demonstrates its inaction.

The incidents involving fatalities in coastal areas are not isolated events. Last May, three young individuals lost their lives due to drowning in Santiago de Cuba.

The first incident occurred at Sardinero Beach, which is not officially certified as a swimming zone, and two young people lost their lives in the incident.

The second unfortunate incident was reported at La Estrella beach, a small stretch of coastline near El Morro. A young man lost his life there.
