A young Cuban, who has shared on social media his experiences after emigrating to the United States, confessed to being "traumatized" after visiting a Costco store for the first time.
Sergitosant (@sergitosant) shared a video on TikTok of his first visit to a store of the famous supermarket chain, where he was amazed by the large amount of high-quality food.
The young man explained that his visit to the store was mainly for the strawberries, although he recently confessed that he did not find the taste as pleasant as he expected. Despite this, he could not help feeling amazed by the variety and quality of the other products.
“Look at the size of the lemons, the size of my hand,” he expressed while holding a package. He also showed in the video the avocados, oranges, tomatoes, peppers, among others.
He felt great astonishment upon observing the enormous amount of meats, fish, cheeses: “My God, this is huge.”
The boy said he felt "traumatized" by being able to witness, in one place, a wide variety of foods.
The young Cuban has won the sympathy of his followers on TikTok by showcasing his “firsts” in the United States.
One of them was when trying her first McDonald's meal: “I have never tried this because I have lived my whole life in Cuba and nothing like this exists in Cuba,” she said at the moment when she is seen tasting chicken nuggets, french fries, and a hamburger.
Like him, many Cubans who arrive abroad experience a variety of sensations, especially when facing the abundance of food in the markets for the first time.
Recently, a Cuban couldn't help but feel moved when she saw the refrigerators filled with meat in a supermarket in the United States. A moment of emotion that could be appreciated thanks to the user @pepecuban on TikTok sharing the video.
When asked why she is crying, the woman responds with tears in her eyes: "Because of the hunger that is suffered in Cuba, buddy. Here there is everything. This really sends shivers up my spine." Her reaction reflects the contrast between the scarcity experienced on the island and the abundance of products available in American supermarkets.
Another young Cuban felt the same excitement when entering a supermarket in Miami for the first time, where faced with the variety of foods, she admitted that “not even Carlos III dared to do so much.”
The phrase refers to the Carlos III store in Havana, known for having one of the most varied selections on the island, but which undoubtedly falls short compared to any supermarket outside the country.
