Those affected by a food poisoning outbreak in the municipality of Corralillo, in Villa Clara, "are at home in good health," stated an official source from the Ministry of Health in that province.
"It has been more than 72 hours since new cases have appeared. It is reiterated that we did not have serious patients or fatalities," indicated on Facebook Dr. Juan José Pulido López, General Director of Health of Villa Clara.
After 16 people, including several minors, showed symptoms of dehydration, diarrhea, and vomiting after consuming nationally produced condensed milk, the situation raised great concern among the residents of that municipality in Villa Clara.
The product was distributed by the local Agricultural Company and came from the Dairy Company of Sagua, as explained by Pulido López.
The incident was initially reported when several affected individuals went to the clinic in the town center of Corralillo, which led health authorities to issue an immediate alert.
The patients were transferred to the 'Mártires del 9 de Abril' hospital in Sagua la Grande, where they received medical attention.
In response to the situation, local authorities went to the site to supervise the actions, and warnings were issued for the population to avoid consuming the affected product.
Additionally, according to Pulido López, samples of the product were sent to the provincial laboratory to determine the exact cause of the outbreak, although the results have not yet been confirmed.
