Few resources, much joy, this is how the welcome for Cuban Olympic medalist Yusneilys Guzmán can be defined, after returning from Paris to the Diez de Octubre municipality in Havana.
In images published on social media, two cakes can be seen on a table, along with what appear to be bottles of soda and rum (from the store), but the face of the gladiator shows satisfaction amidst the cheers of her neighbors.
The journalist Yasel Porto provided details of the arrival on Facebook.
"La Chiqui," as she is known, went down in history as the first Cuban wrestler to win a medal at the Summer Olympics, after winning a silver medal in the 50 kilograms freestyle event.
The one trained by the seasoned Filiberto Delgado lost this Wednesday against the American favorite Sara Ann Hildebrandt (0-3), although a "stroke of luck" (or by the twists of fate) placed her in that title discussion.
Guzmán overcame the Turk Evi Demirhan (7-6) in her debut and defeated the Lithuanian Gabija Dilyte by superiority (10-0) in the quarter-finals. However, she lost to the Indian Vinesh Vinesh (0-5) in the semi-final round. But due to the twists of life, her conqueror failed to make weight at the usual weigh-in for the competition date, was automatically eliminated, and gave the Antillean a chance.
