In Santiago de Cuba, a mother reported that the driver of a state car refused to transport her minor daughter, who was in a critical health situation.
The incident was reported by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta, who shared the story on his Facebook profile.
According to the mother's account, the girl was at the Children's Hospital North in Santiago de Cuba, but due to the severity of her condition, she needed to be urgently transferred to the Children's Hospital South Dr. Antonio María Béguez César, known as "La Colonia."
In Cuban hospitals, ambulance service is practically nonexistent and taxis are so expensive that many people cannot afford them, and sometimes even having the money, they are not easily found. The mother requested help from a state vehicle, but the driver refused to provide assistance.
Mayeta, in her post, shared information about the vehicle involved, with the license plate B 225 732, and expressed her outrage at the lack of solidarity during such a critical moment.
Additionally, she recalled a similar incident that occurred weeks earlier, in which several private cars refused to assist a lady who was drowning at Playa Bueycabón, resulting in her death.
The case has generated great concern in the community, especially because state vehicles in Cuba are required to pick up and transport passengers on public roads due to the transportation crisis and the lack of fuel.
"The car does not belong to him, it belongs to the people," the journalist emphasized, demanding that the authorities take urgent measures to prevent situations of this nature from happening again.
