A netizen posted an urgent and desperate announcement on social media, searching for a dog that can donate blood to her pet, in exchange for a monetary reward.
Irela Sánchez, a resident of Havana, requested help on Facebook to find a dog over two years old and weighing at least 25 kilograms that could serve as a blood donor for her pet. In exchange, she offered an unspecified amount of money.
"I need help, I'll pay whatever it takes," the person pointed out, highlighting the urgency of the pet they wish to save.
Among the people who commented on the post, a notable comment came from an internet user named Misuñas Srp, who claimed that in the locality of Santiago de las Vegas, there is a place that sells blood, supposedly for dogs.
In Cuba, animal protectors turn to social media daily to address the issues affecting pets.
An animal rights advocate appealed for help this Saturday to those who wish to contribute to raise 800 dollars, aiming to buy a house in the countryside and establish a shelter for dogs in Güines, a municipality in the province of Mayabeque, Cuba.
According to the message shared by Alberto Luiz Cruz on Facebook, the house they intend to acquire has ample space, water, and electricity, making it an ideal place to shelter the animals.
The fervent animal protector, Yenney Caballero, shared a touching testimony on social media about the mistreatment that a puppy suffered in her neighborhood in San José de Las Lajas, Mayabeque, when it tried to take shelter in a doorway and was brutally driven away with sticks by a woman who identified herself as a Christian.
The activist recounted on Facebook that the small dog, apparently abandoned and exhausted from the heat and hunger, tried to seek shelter in a house; however, the homeowner reacted by hitting the puppy with a broom to scare it away.
